About the personal year

Numerology treats time as a repeating nine-year cycle. Your personal year number combines your birth day and month with the current calendar year, so it changes every year and returns to the same value every nine.

A 1 year is typically read as a beginning, the point to start things. A 9 year is a completion, better suited to finishing and releasing than launching. Knowing which year you are in is mostly useful for timing: the same decision can be well or badly placed depending on where it falls in the cycle.

Your birth year is not used in this calculation, so two people born on the same day and month share a personal year number regardless of age.

Personal year, questions people ask

When does my personal year change?
Most practitioners change it on 1 January with the calendar year; some change it on your birthday. This calculator uses the calendar year.
Why is my birth year not used?
The personal year measures where you are in a repeating cycle, not your age. Only your birth day, birth month and the current year are involved.
